The book is very good, I had already read some excerpts and I used to compare it with Tanenbaum's book, always thinking that the latter's book was more in-depth, but on second thought I still haven't read Tanenbaum's book so it's hard to compare, I only read a few parts. But anyway Kurose's book, read completely, surprised me with the details and the amount of references, the latter I think is one of the strongest points of the book, I think someone who wants to do in-depth work or research in the area of networks you can look up the references in this book and you will certainly be well served. Here's the cover of the book:
I ended up reading the 6th edition and only after reading a good part of the book did I see that there is a more recent one so I continued reading.
The book starts in its first chapter with a general overview of the area of computer networks, already bringing a lot of technical information. After the book starts its top-down approach where it goes through the TCP/IP protocol stack in some chapters, starts with the application layer, after the transport layer, network and finally the link, there are four more chapters chapters adding up in total 9. The last four chapters are divided into wireless networks and mobile networks, multimedia networks, computer network security and finally network management.
I've been studying the area of networks for some time both in college and on my own and I already knew many of the concepts in the book, but the wealth of details with which they are approached gives a broader view of the area.
I could go over the content of the book in a superficial way, but I have already brought the content of each of the chapters and from that you can already have an idea, the best thing is to read the book to get the exact idea.
